Y Gwyliedydd
The Sentinel
Standing above the rocks at Trearddur is a quiet piece of the bay’s sailing history. The flagstaff dates from 1928 and was erected in memory of Donald Smellie, the club’s Honorary Secretary, who lost his life at sea the year before. Nearly a century later it still watches over the water, signalling race days and marking the seasons of sailing that have become part of Trearddur life. Against an evening sky, it feels less like a landmark and more like a sentinel over the bay.
