The Old Kiln

There’s something magical about the walk to Porth Wen. Follow the coastal path through the wild landscape and eventually the remains of an old brickworks appear beside the sea. Once a place of industry, where local stone was turned into firebricks and shipped out from the little harbour, today nature has slowly taken it back. The great round kilns remain, strange and beautiful against the water. They have an almost Hobbity quality, as though you’ve stumbled across somewhere you weren’t really meant to find.
