Sea of Silver
It was impossible not to watch the water. Every small wave seemed to carry a pocketful of sunlight towards the beach, breaking it into a thousand bright pieces as it reached the shallows. Silver one moment, gold the next, then gone back into the blue. Across the bay the headland was almost black against the evening sky, quiet and solid while everything in front of it glittered and moved. This is the Anglesey I love most. Not necessarily the big sunsets or wild stormy seas, but these fleeting little moments when something familiar suddenly looks extraordinary. You can have walked the same beach a hundred times and then the light falls differently, the tide is in just the right place, and for a few minutes it feels as though you’ve never seen it before.
