Before You See the Sea
The sea gives itself away long before you see it. Leaving the Oyster Catch behind, the path climbs through the dunes towards Broad Beach. The sand is impossibly soft beneath your feet and the marram grass grows high on either side, keeping the sea hidden just a little longer. But you can hear it. The sound grows louder as you climb until, finally, you reach the top of the dunes and the whole view opens up. Broad Beach stretches out below, the water catching the light and the horizon suddenly seeming enormous. It is one of those little Anglesey moments that never really changes. The effort of climbing through the soft sand, the anticipation of knowing what is on the other side, and then that first beautiful glimpse.
